Length in a quote is not “how long it looks in a braid from the crown”. It is the centimetres below the future elastic — the part that will be cut off.
On the head
Comb dry hair. Tie a ponytail at the height of the planned cut (usually the nape). Put the start of the tape on the elastic, stretch the hair down, read the end. Do not pull so hard that the scalp lifts. Photograph this — that is the frame the technologist compares with the cut.
Already cut
Lay the ponytail straight on a table, tape next to it from the cut to the ends. A separate photo on kitchen scales in grams. Dry only. Wet hair is heavier and the number will not match the payout.
What the numbers are for
They help you understand the order of the sum. They do not replace a condition check: damaged 80 g and healthy 80 g cost different amounts. Why they also look at colour and chemistry — in assessment criteria.
