Six months is not a “miracle course”. It is enough to step into the next length band or to stop spoiling what you already have. It is not enough to turn short damaged hair into long light hair from an ad.
Growth is slow
About a centimetre or a centimetre and a half a month is a sober expectation. If you are 2–3 cm short of a band, waiting can pay off. If you are ten centimetres short, six months will not close the gap.
Stop chemistry
No new dye, bleach, keratin. Heat less often. Masks and oils at the ends if you like them, but not every day until hair feels greasy. A week before the cut, drop them so the photo has no film. How to approach the hand-in day: preparing for the cut.
Measure from the future elastic
If you are on the edge of a band — 40 vs 45, 50 vs 55 — it is sometimes wiser to wait than to cut for “I want a bob now”. The rate jumps between bands more than between two extra weeks inside the same band. How to read bands: how much you can get.
